Happy first day of Fall!

Summer was epic with many adventures, growth, and learning new things. I learned to kayak, went on my first solo backpacking trip, and went to solo trips.

I spent the weekend backpacking at Marion Lakes area in Oregon to start out fall. The views were amazing, the leaves are starting to change.

It got really cold at night, but it was so worth it.

Olympic National Park offers several opportunities

Olympic National Park offers several opportunities to explore beautiful waterfalls.

Sol Duc Falls is a fairly easy hike at only 0.8 miles each way. If you’re looking for a longer distance the trail continues beyond the falls.

Backpacking permits are available as well reserve online at recreation.gov or inquire at the visitor center in Port Angeles.

Toilets available at trailhead.

Highly recommended America the Beautiful Pass for entry. It’s 80$ for the year and you can get into all national parks, national forests, BLM lands.

As I reflect back on my birthday today, I couldn’t be happier than to spend it in nature as it is the place I feel most connected and grounded.

What’s more fitting than visiting the tree of life on the day I complete another trip around the sun?

I’ve grown a lot as a person this year, leaning into new experiences, gaining new friendships, and embracing my love of travel.

It’s been a year of losses and new beginnings. This trip has been nostalgic in some ways as I reflect where I’ve been and where I want to go with my life. I remember visiting some of these places with my grandma several years ago before she passed away and I’m so glad for the memories.

Live each day to its fullest and embrace all the opportunities that life gives you! Don’t wait to live your best life!

August was a month of growth in many ways and expl

August was a month of growth in many ways and exploring more of my home state of Oregon.

Major highlights from the month:
1) I finished my first half marathon since breaking my ankle @bridgeofthegodsrun

2) Got to re-explore the magic of the Columbia River Gorge with my nieces. It was their first time to visit one of my favorite places. @visitcolumbiarivergorge

3) I tested myself by going on my first solo backpacking trip at Green Lakes

4) Learned to kayak.

5) Climbed South Sister, Oregon’s third largest mountain. This was by far the hardest physically and mentally challenging experience I’ve had in a long time.

Embracing new challenges and opportunities to grow is always rewarding. My biggest hope is to inspire others to challenge themselves, try something new, and discover the joys living life now!

September brings my birthday, a new opportunity to explore with new friends, and continued training for @philly_marathon.

If you love nature you are outdoorsy! If you enjoy a nature walk in the park that’s amazing. If you’ve never been backpacking you’re still outdoorsy.

I’ve always enjoyed hiking and nature, but didn’t grow backpacking or going on long hikes. We camped a couple of times a year. I’m still learning and growing all the time and still consider myself outdoorsy.

It’s not too late to start. Most of my first gear was second hand. I’m slow and not what some would consider an athlete, but it’s about the journey! Enjoy nature any way you’re comfortable, because the outdoors are for everyBODY.
